About Mwanza Lutheran Secondary School: 

Mwanza Lutheran secondary school (MLSS) is a secondary school owned by Evangelical Lutheran church of Tanzania –East of Lake Victoria Diocese found in Mwanza region at Mabatini /Sinai area about 300 meters from Musoma road. MLSS is committed to provide quality education which is necessary for equipping socio-economic and political aspects in promoting human potentials. The school is looking for an enthusiastic experienced, and hardworking teacher with a passion for teaching for the below detailed position:

 

POSITION: ENGLISH TEACHER

ANSWERABLE TO: SCHOOL HEAD MASTER

AVAILABLE NUMBER OF POST: ONE (1)

Job Summary: Responsible to create supportive learning environment which will help student meet their learning goals through interesting and diverse methods rules of reading, writing and speaking in English.

Roles and responsibilities

·         Plan English lessons to meet the national curriculum guidance

·         Work with colleagues to coordinate lessons as needed and giving direction to Teaching Assistants (Tas)

·         Set mark and give feedback on English assignments, tests and homework, as part of the continuous assessment of each student

·         Identify student with special requirements and create individualized methods

·         Keep a record of student’s attendances and grades

·         Manage classroom crises and resolve conflicts

·         Ensure the classroom is a safe environment where safeguarding procedures are followed and rules for behavior are established and enforced as needed

·         To attend staff meetings and carry out various administrative tasks, such as writing and updating records and reports.

·         To motivate the students with an enthusiastic approach and a variety of individual, group and whole class work

·         Ensures that the given books and other teaching materials are well kept.

·         Guide and counselling Students on importance of obeying School laws and regulations for academic excellence.

·         Ensure compliance of Christian and Church ethics.

·         Perform other duties as assigned by Head of School and an employer.

 

Required Skills and experience

 

·         At least two to three years of experience as an English teacher

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English as a medium of instruction.

·         A teacher with vibrant, diligent and motivating, personality for our student

·         Fluent level of spoken and written English language

·         Knowledgeable of the English subject and have positive, outgoing personality to motivate and inspire students. Excellent knowledge of national curriculum guidance for English

·         Supportive and patient, willing to encourage and empathize with pupils of all abilities

·         Be able to strive for academic and encourage moral excellence and encourage Students to aim high and achieve more.

·         Strong ability to deliver the curriculum content using modern teaching methods and strategies that support competence- Based approach to learning and assessments.

 

 

 

Academic Qualification:

·         Diploma/Bachelor Degree in Education (English subject/language as area of specialization) from a recognized college or University.

·         Other credentials like certificate of performance in teaching English language will be an added advantage.
